README =========== These few files constitute an *extremely* dumbed down and limited version of GLib. They are based upon GLib 1.2.7, info on which can be found at http://www.gtk.org I removed all noticeable bells and whistles from GLib, and ported the *bare* minimum classes needed to get GArray and GList to work. DO NOT MISTAKE THIS FOR A COMPLETE GLIB. These classes and files are *NOT* MT safe, unlike GLib. This package could be made smaller by eliminating the unnecessary functions, macros, et.al. not used by GArray, GList, and the classes/functions that they depend upon. I chose not to so that if the need arises, we have access to the existing functions && to not break the GLib API. The only missing functions are g_strerror() and g_strsignal() because they are unnecessary for our needs and because they require all sorts of Makefile magic to work across platforms. Included in this package is a program called 'tester' which goes through a bunch of checks/tests against my compiled GLib package. It is far from complete, but shows that this package does indeed work, at least in most cases. This should compile across platforms and across compilers. However, it has only been tested on Linux 2.2.12 under gcc-2.91-66. I compiled with -Wall -ansi and don't get any warnings though, which is probably good for your platform... Non-Unix platforms shouldn't have to do anything to get this thing "working out of the box," but I wouldn't hold my breath too long... The only potential problem I see is around the g_return_xxx and g_xxx macros or if your platform uses something other than __declspec, extern __declspec, or extern to export functions. You may need to do some minimal hacking to get this working, but nothing too serious. The only real options you have are G_DISABLE_ASSERT and G_DISABLE_CHECKS, to have the g_return_xxx macros to just turn into nops. Thanks and good luck, Dom Lachowicz
